Tips for Keeping Cool!

Gold Hill Gardens was beyond blessed to host many weddings on the property – what with the gardens in full spring bloom, stepping foot on the property meant breathing deeply and enjoying the gorgeous scents of our earthly gifts.

Keeping cool is a main factor of an outdoor facility in a northern California climate – here are some create ways to keep you and your guests cool but still have an elegant wedding or event (excerpts from https://www.vogue.com/article/how-to-stay-cool-summer-outdoor-wedding):

Put a drink in their hand.
Instead of passing out glasses of bubbly as your guests arrive, I’d recommend having decorative pitchers of fruit-infused ice water at the entrance of your outdoor ceremony. Since some fruit, like watermelon and mango, can help reduce body temperature, guests can settle down in their seats with a drink that’ll keep them cool while you say “I do.”

Keep their butts cool.
If your heart is set on using a certain kind of metal or wooden chair for your ceremony, splurge on getting fabric cushions so that your guests don’t burn their butts or legs when they take a seat.

Stay away from liquid makeup.
Go with powder-based makeup and you’ll avoid having to make frequent trips to the restroom to fix foundation and lipstick that’s probably dripping off your face. Even better, hire a professional to use airbrush makeup on your face, since it’s sweat-, water-, and even tear-proof.

Give your guests a pair of sunnies.
Most of your guests’ bags may be too small for sunglasses, and nobody wants to have to squint during the whole ceremony if the sun is blaring. Customize sunglasses with your wedding logo or your initials on the side for guests to put on while they are outdoors (and probably again on the dance floor). If you aren’t into sunglasses, handing out chic parasols is also a great idea.

Create a bridal party sweat-survival kit.
Make a kit for your bridal party filled with sweat-fixing items like face blotters, sunscreen, a travel-size deodorant, and even body wipes. The groom can make one for the guys, too. Since they can’t carry this kit with them down the aisle, you can have the kits waiting for them post-wedding in the bridal suite or even have the bathrooms at the reception stocked with these items.

Put your hair back.
A girl’s best friend during the summertime is truly a hair tie. For outdoor moments, whether it’s for the ceremony or cocktail hour, have hair ties nearby for the women who want to go with a quick and temporary updo.

Create DIY water misters.
Skip renting giant misters that will make your wedding venue look like it’s a water park and instead create DIY mini water misters that you can put under each chair during the reception. Get mini mister bottles and print labels for each bottle so guests know when and how to use it.

Gold Hill Gardens staged 5 different areas on gorgeous, 30+ acre property for the guests to visit, starting with a champagne bar at the Upper Ceremony site. The paths then led to the reception area and pool house for wine tastins from Paza Estate Wines ( https://www.pazawines.com/) and Dono dal Cielo (http://www.donodalcielo.com/) . The tour continued to meander down towards the lower ceremony site for a temptation of a refreshing beer tasting from Crooked Lane Brewing Company (http://www.crookedlanebrewing.com/). Lastly, but certainly not least, the tour was complete with a view of the pastures at the upper Ceremony Site and the B & B.

Sacramento Area Event Experts Wedding Styling Collaboration

On February 22, 2018, a fantastic group of Sacramento area wedding and event professionals, joined together on the Gold Hill Gardens Estate to create a fairy-tale dream-come-true.

There are so many things that we loved about this collaboration, not withstanding the multitude of talent that worked together to envision what turned into such beautiful photography.

Starting early in the morning, the models arrived to execute the vision of Ramona Arnold, from Simple Country Weddings and Vintage Decor (@simplecountryweddings simplecountryweddings.com) and photographer: The Freckled Photographer @thefreckledphotog thefreckledphotographer.com.

The details attended to by Hair – by Something Blue by Kayci Stoots @ksubia kaycistoots.com and
Makeup – Beelah Shaaikh @Makeupbybeela hennamoods.com are breathtaking, don’t you think?

As one can imagine, styling a Bride and Groom take attention to detail and taste – to then pull the floral, linens, all the tableware, centerpieces! cannot be learned in a classroom – this is innate in a persons soul and ‘eye’. The creations of Fairwoods Floral @fairwoodsfloral Fairwoodsfloral.com  and additional collaboration with Criate Rentals @criaterentals criaterentals.com and Standard Party Rentals standardpartyrentalsmodesto standardpartyrentals.com/modesto are romantic as they were heart-stirring.

We LOVED the choices of linen from Specialty Linen La Tavola @latavolalinen AND joli_latavola latavolalinen.com, being creative to pull from non-traditional colors and arrangements make a wedding or event oh-so-memorable. Here are a few more photos showcasing the gold flatware and Invitations/Menu Cards Donna Smith @donnasmoth09

…..GORGEOUS!

Catering provided by Bella Bru Cafe Catering @bellabrucafe bellabrucafe.com and the CAKE!! created by Go West Baking And Events @gowestbakingandevents gowestbakingandevents.com. Seriously, tastes as fabulous as it looks.
